Dispute Management Guide
What are Disputes?
A dispute (or chargeback) occurs when a customer contacts their bank to contest a charge on their credit card.
Common reasons include:
Fraudulent Transaction - Customer claims they didn't authorize the purchase
Product Not Received - Customer didn't receive the goods/services
Product Not as Described - Product differs from description
Duplicate Charge - Customer was charged multiple times
Subscription Cancelled - Customer cancelled but was still charged
How Does It Work?
1. Customer Disputes
Customer contacts their bank to contest a charge
2. Bank Notifies PSP
The payment processor (IGFS, Stripe, etc.) receives the dispute
3. PayGlobe Receives Webhook
The dispute appears here automatically - you DON'T create it
4. You Respond
Submit evidence to defend the transaction before the deadline
Dispute Status
OPEN
New dispute requiring your attention
UNDER_REVIEW
You submitted evidence, bank is reviewing
EVIDENCE_REQUIRED
Additional evidence requested
WON
Dispute resolved in your favor, funds returned
LOST

EXPIRED

How to Respond
Click the Respond button on any OPEN dispute
Write a clear explanation of the transaction
Gather supporting evidence:
Order confirmation emails
Shipping/delivery proof
Customer communication records
Terms of service / refund policy
Product descriptions and photos
Submit before the deadline (shown in red if urgent)
API Integration
For developers: Disputes can also be managed via API. See the
Partner Integration Guide for endpoints:
GET /api/merchant/disputes - List disputes with filters
GET /api/merchant/disputes/stats - Get dispute statistics
POST /api/merchant/disputes/{id}/respond - Submit response
Tips to Win Disputes
Respond quickly - Don't wait until the deadline
Be specific - Include order details, dates, and tracking numbers
Provide proof - Screenshots, emails, delivery confirmation
Stay professional - Clear, factual responses work best
Know the reason - Tailor your response to the specific dispute type
Add Manual Dispute
When to add manually: Use this form when your PSP notifies you of a chargeback outside of automatic webhooks
(e.g., via email, portal, or phone).
